Dr Wisam Kamil is a specialised dental professional and researcher focusing on periodontology and public health dentistry. He holds a PhD from the University of Western Australia and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. Dr Kamil earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery and a master’s degree in Periodontology. He is certified by the Australian Dental Council and holds a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics) from the University of Sydney.

Throughout his career, Dr Kamil has made significant contributions to academia, clinical practice, and research. He previously served as an Assistant Professor in Malaysia, contributing extensively to student education and mentoring. Currently, he works as a part-time Clinical Educator at the University of Sydney’s Dental School, where he trains DMD students in Periodontology while concurrently practicing periodontics in a private clinical sector.

Dr Kamil’s research focuses include gerodontology, socioeconomic disparities in dental care, and periodontal disease management. He has a strong interest in all clinical aspects of periodontology, including regenerative therapies, implant dentistry, and the management of complex periodontal conditions. His research has been published in respected journals such as Gerodontology and the Journal of Periodontal Research, and he has presented his work at international conferences. He has also received several awards for his research and presentations, including the prestigious Research Training Program Scholarship from the Australian Government.
